To hire Alex to play the piano for an event, as a very rough guide, it would cost around £150-300 for a one-off event, or £70-100 for a regular residency. He might charge less if it is on a weekday, ie. Monday-Thursday. Alex doesn't have a car and so would charge for the rail fare and travel time to get to and from your event if it is outside of London.
Things that affect the price includes how long he has to play for - for example, it would be, say, £150 for one set, £180 for two, £210 for three or £240 for four. However, at busy times of the year, these prices may increase.
Please see the piano hire
page for information and costs of hiring a piano.
Alex doesn't usually ask for a deposit, unless other musicians are involved, or if he is hiring a piano. He would expect payment in full on the day of the event in cash, or with a bank transfer.
You can ask for requests
- if it is a tune that Alex doesn't already know (check repertoire
page) then Alex may charge between £30-50 to learn a new song, depending on what it is and how difficult it is. If it is a straight forward jazz standard, then Alex will probably not charge for this. However, there may be a fee of around £20 if it is a rock-pop tune that's not too easy, or perhaps up to £50 for a more complicated classical piece, learned from a score - to compensate for the time spent on this.
